For several years we’ve offered the Form 1 & 2 Bible Breakdowns, and are happy to be able to offer a similar resource for Forms 3 & 4 Bible lessons. These are based on the resources Charlotte Mason assigned in these Forms and there are more components than the earlier Forms. First, the students are exposed to their first commentaries (that they are to read themselves). Second, there are two different “streams” of New Testament readings, one from either Acts of the Apostles or the Gospel of John, the other from Charlotte Mason’s poems based on a harmonization of the Gospel texts. The Old Testament portion, located in The Old Testament History by the Rev. Costley-White, contains the text of Scripture (omissions having been made) with some introductory material and footnotes providing the commentary. These are in process of being reprinted, but in the meantime, you can access the PDFs on Internet Archive.
We recommend you take a look at the Form 3-4 portion of the Bible Charts that show the entire Bible rotation. You will see that most of the OT volumes take only two terms to complete, so the rotation continues in the next volume the following term. All students in a single homeschool or any other type of school read the same Volume of Saviour of the World each year. A re-listen to Episode 17 might give you some context for all of this within the big picture of Bible Lessons.
Finally, we’ve added some extra features to these Breakdowns, similar to the revisions for Forms 1-2: Example Lesson Procedures and all the Exam Questions taken from the PUS Programmes and Examination Papers. This Teacher Help was created to save the teacher time in plotting out which passages to read for each lesson and to align the particular section of Paterson Smyth’s books illuminating that passage.
